We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer / Project Manager with 12+ years of experience in commercial building systems. Salary $130k+
This is a key role within a growing firm, ideal for a career-minded professional with a strong background in commercial electrical system design. The position involves hands-on design, production oversight, task delegation, and mentoring of junior staff. Candidates must have demonstrated project management experience and the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously. You will be actively engaged throughout the full project lifecycle - from pre-design through construction administration and final closeout. This is a full-time, in-office position and best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key responsibilities include: • Leading the electrical design process for commercial projects • Managing workload and deliverables across multiple projects • Mentoring; providing redlines, design guidance, and technical support to junior team members • Being an accessible resource for technical questions • Overseeing quality control and ensuring project standards are met • Managing project schedules, budgets, and client coordination • Attending design and construction meetings as needed • Tracking project milestones and ensuring timely delivery of design packages
Qualifications: • 12+ years of design experience in commercial building electrical systems, including: Power distribution (single-line diagrams, panel schedules, wire sizing, voltage drop and short circuit calculations) Lighting design (specifications, controls, emergency/egress lighting, and circuiting) Fire alarm design with a strong working knowledge of applicable codes and system requirements Shop drawing review and coordination Electrical punchlists • 5+ years of project management experience • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Codes (IBC), and ASHRAE/IECC energy codes • Solid knowledge of construction methods, equipment manufacturers, and available products • Field survey experience to support design documentation and as-built drawings • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; capable of both designing and drafting as needed • Proven project and client management capabilities • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and meet both internal and external deadlines • Committed to mentoring and developing junior electrical designers • Skilled in performing QA/QC reviews • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment • Must possess a valid driver's license Project Sectors: • Commercial / Retail • Educational / Institutional • Hospitality / Restaurants • Healthcare / Laboratory • Multi-Family Residential
