Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team as our first dedicated DevOps hire. This is a pivotal role that offers the opportunity to define and lead the infrastructure, automation, and deployment strategy for a fast-growing AI company.

As a senior individual contributor, you will take full ownership of our cloud infrastructure, observability stack, deployment pipelines, and security practices. You’ll lead efforts to establish SOC2 and HIPAA compliance, implement infrastructure-as-code, and build scalable DevOps practices that support rapid product iteration without sacrificing reliability or security.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the company’s AWS-based cloud infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and maintain modern DevOps best practices across environments and teams.
  • Lead SOC2 and HIPAA compliance efforts, including audit preparation and remediation.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including support for Blue/Green and Canary deployments.
  • Migrate infrastructure to a fully infrastructure-as-code approach using tools such as Terraform.
  • Establish observability systems with actionable dashboards, logging, metrics, and alerts.
  • Implement and manage security and access controls suitable for a growing SaaS product.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to drive best practices for scalable, reliable operations.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS or similar).
  • Demonstrated success as the first or sole DevOps engineer within a startup or early-stage company.
  • Expertise in infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).
  • Experience building CI/CD systems from scratch.
  • Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools and best practices.
  • Direct experience leading or supporting SOC2, HIPAA, or equivalent compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to lead discussions on uptime, deployment reliability, and security strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with tools such as DataDog, MongoDB, Vercel, and Uvicorn.
  • Experience supporting MLOps or large language model (LLM) operations.
  • Experience deploying and managing private LLM model servers.
  • Hands-on experience with private artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, self-hosted PyPI/NPM).
  • Experience with ephemeral development environments and per-branch preview deployments.
  • Background in mobile DevOps (e.g., React Native CI/CD pipelines).
