The Senior Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing and developing groundbreaking designs for the accessibility industry. The ideal candidate should possess a proven track record of thinking outside the box, turning innovative ideas into tangible designs, and pushing the boundaries of traditional engineering while understanding the intricacies of design for manufacturing, ensuring seamless transitions from concept to production. Confidence and determination Ability to build rapport across diverse personality types Active listening skills to truly understand and address customer needs Persistence and creativity in problem-solving Your Key Responsibilities: Conceptualize and Develop Designs: Bring a radical thinking approach to design challenges and propose unconventional solutions.
Create and develop detailed designs of accessibility solutions using industry-standard design tools and software. Ensure designs meet technical specifications, performance criteria, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, supply chain, QA, marketing and manufacturing to integrate design concepts into a comprehensive product development plan.
Participate in design reviews to gather feedback and iterate on designs as necessary. Prototyping and Testing:
Develop prototypes for proof-of-concept and perform testing to validate design concepts.
Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve design performance. Documentation:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including design specifications, reports, and drawings.
Prepare final cost estimates and detailed production specifications for the manufacturing teams. Ensure documentation complies with internal quality standards and industry regulations. Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of design methodologies. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering Proven experience as a Design Engineer with a focus on creative and innovative design solutions.
Strong proficiency in design software (SOLIDWORKS and Autodesk) Working knowledge of metal and plastics fabrication (i.e., welding, chemical and mechanical fastening) Be comfortable using fabrication/prototyping equipment (Milling Machine, Bandsaw, Chop Saw, Welder, Power Tools). Excellent mechanical, coordination and math skills Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills; written, verbal and listening Be self-sufficient, have excellent problem-solving skills, and work quickly with extraordinary attention to detail At least 5-10 years of experience in Product Development or related field Why Join National Ramp? The salary range for this position, based in Valley Cottage, NY, is $140,000-$150,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities.
The final salary will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Location:
