Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical authority on liquid filtration products, supporting sales, marketing, technical support, and product management.
Engage directly with customers to assess application requirements and deliver optimized filtration solutions across upstream, downstream, and ancillary processes (including pre-filtration, sterile filtration, clarification, virus filtration, and TFF).
Lead application development and product/process development projects, including evaluation, validation, scale-up, troubleshooting, and margin improvement initiatives (MIPs).
Influence customer decisions through a consultative, problem-solving approach, grounded in deep technical knowledge and process credibility.
Drive new technology development with R&D, grounded in industry trends, customer workflows, process economics, and VOC.
Support manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement teams in translating application needs into sustainable and scalable product solutions.
Deliver technical training, presentations, and product demonstrations for internal and external stakeholders; contribute to knowledge sharing systems.
Supervise laboratory technicians to achieve technical goals and support their skill development.
Maintain accurate documentation, including CRM-based tracking, project reporting, and contributions to internal DFSS/DFM/stage-gate processes.
Benchmark competitor products and technologies; conduct literature reviews and patent searches as needed for freedom-to-operate (FTO) and prior art education.
Represent the company at technical conferences, trade shows, and customer seminars, enhancing our technical brand and thought leadership.
Support Sales and Marketing with technical service and product selection guidance based on stated process or performance requirements.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biochemistry, life sciences, or a related technical field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
10+ years of experience in application engineering, R&D, or technical support, focused on biopharmaceutical liquid filtration.
Demonstrated expertise in filtration technologies (pre-filtration, sterile filtration, clarification, virus filtration, TFF) and downstream processing (e.g., chromatography).
In-depth understanding of bioprocessing modalities, including antibody, vaccine, and cell/gene therapy production.
Proven track record as a consultative technical expert, influencing product decisions and process optimizations.
Experience in validation, regulatory compliance, and customer scale-up for filtration products.
Strong project management, communication, and time management skills.
Proficiency in CRM systems, documentation, and technical reporting.
Familiarity with physical test methods used to characterize filtration media and end-use performance.
Effective team player with the ability to mentor, collaborate cross-functionally, and interface at multiple organizational levels.
Willingness and ability to travel 40–50% to support R&D collaboration, customer engagements, and technical training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, and occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception.
Work Environment: Exposure to hot/humid conditions, wet/slippery areas, fumes, caustic chemicals, and mechanical vibration. Noise levels range from quiet to very loud; appropriate PPE is required in certain areas.
Location
This is a hybrid home/office-based role with regular travel to customer sites, R&D facilities, and industry events.
