Job Title: Routing & Switching Network Engineer Location: Plano, TX (Onsite) Type: Contract Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Routing & Switching Network Engineer with 10+ years of network engineering expertise to design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures for optimal performance, security, and scalability. This is an onsite role in Plano, TX requiring strong collaboration across cross-functional teams, hands-on troubleshooting, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Network Design & Implementation Design and deploy network architectures aligning with business objectives. Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points (Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, Meraki, Aruba). Implement WAN, LAN, WLAN solutions including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and network security policies. Network Operations & Troubleshooting Handle L2/L3 troubleshooting for high-priority incidents (P1/P2) and guide offshore teams for lower-priority tickets (P3/P4). Perform RCA and implement permanent fixes. Liaise with ISPs, service providers, and OEM vendors for upgrades, replacements, and escalations. Security & Compliance Implement network security best practices (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS). Conduct vulnerability scans and security assessments. Maintain compliance with industry standards. Collaboration & Documentation Work closely with SMEs, leads, and managers to maintain accurate network documentation. Provide knowledge transfer (KT) and training to other associates. Collaborate with system admins, security engineers, and app developers for integrated solutions. Required Skills & Experience Networking Protocols: TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs Hardware Expertise: Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, Avaya/Nortel, Meraki, Aruba Tools & Automation: Ansible, Terraform, SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix Scripting: Python, Perl (preferred) Strong knowledge of network virtualization & security best practices Hands-on with wireless networks (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba) Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and operational management skills Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent Extreme Networks certification preferred
