Roadway Engineer (Forensic Engineering)

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Evaluate MOT issues including pedestrian ingress/egress ways and ADA accessibility, vehicular traffic ingress/egress, turn lane design including curb and gutter, paved shoulder, marking, and signing plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and asphalt pavement mix designs Review applicability of city and county code requirements for roadways, pathways, and waterways Investigations may include soil-related issues, landslides, erosion control, retaining walls, earthwork grading, and stormwater runoff Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients Responsible for retention and development of client relations Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships, and promote self to client groups Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Position Requirements : Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Civil Engineering Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic civil maintenance of traffic experience Roadway design and construction experience; maintenance of traffic experience Academic and post-academic geotechnical experience a plus P. E. registration required through testing Must possess strong writing skills Public speaking experience a plus Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
