Job Duties and Responsibilities

Boost Mobile is seeking an RF Engineer I to support the design, integration, and optimization of our 5G wireless network. This role provides foundational support across RF design, performance monitoring, and testing, contributing to the overall reliability and quality of network coverage and user experience.
The RF Engineer I works closely with senior engineers and cross-functional partners to execute RF tasks, monitor key performance indicators, and troubleshoot basic network issues. This role is essential in supporting network expansion and operational excellence through accurate documentation, collaborative problem-solving, and a strong willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in RF design tasks including RFDS creation, PCI planning, candidate selection, and propagation modeling using tools like Planet or Atoll
Support drive testing and data analysis (e.g., 911, ATP), including review of Layer 3 messages and root cause analysis of site issues
Monitor network KPIs, identify anomalies, and collaborate with NOC and operations teams to resolve performance issues
Perform audits on PCI, neighbor relations, and golden parameters to ensure network consistency and quality
Contribute to RAN feature updates, parameter tuning, and troubleshooting of VoLTE and 5G Open RAN data layers with senior engineer guidance
Stay current on emerging RF technologies, participate in team discussions, and suggest improvements to RF design and operations
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required; 0-2 years of RF or wireless system experience preferred
Familiarity with 4G/5G concepts, RF design principles, Layer 3 message interpretation, and mobile network architecture
Exposure to RF optimization and planning tools (e.g., ACTIX, Windcatcher, Planet, Atoll); basic understanding of OSS KPIs
Proficient in reading technical documents like MOPs, construction drawings, and as-builts; intermediate computer skills (Google Suite a plus)
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; able to work flexible hours and maintain driving eligibility per company policy
Physically able to perform fieldwork (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights) and travel up to 10% domestically
Salary Ranges
Compensation: $72,400.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
