The Reliability/Test Engineer’s primary duties are to utilize engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of power tool products. The role requires a Systems and Requirements Engineering approach to define test methods and product requirements that ensure durable, disruptive, and market-leading solutions.
A successful candidate will bring curiosity, accountability, and experience in requirements definition, test development, validation, and data acquisition to the New Product Development team. Duties and Responsibilities
Product Development
Be a subject matter expert in the New Product Development team with respect to test methods, product requirements, user needs, and reliability
Develop Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements from collaboration with Product Management and participation in User Needs Research
Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing to define product specifications with respect to all aspects of reliability, quality, and user needs
Design experimental techniques to improve development and testing efforts
Interact with global suppliers that participate in product development
Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process
Testing and Analysis
Develop new test procedures and create test plans to evaluate product performance against user and product requirements (primarily electromechanical products)
Effectively document test plans, procedures, and best practices for execution in test laboratories
Perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data
Summarize test results with statistical techniques and present concise, logical, written conclusions
Ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field with 1+ years of experience in similar product development, reliability, test, or quality roles
Extremely critical thinker, able to evaluate and proactively identify risks early in the New Product Development cycle and drive projects to mitigate those risks
Experience in troubleshooting, fault detection, failure analysis, and automating tests/measurements and analysis
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities
Ability to travel 10% (includes both domestic and international)
Additional Preferred Skills and Experiences
Experience with Audio and/or Thermal testing
Analytical problem-solving skills and statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g. Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft, LabVIEW)
Previous knowledge of Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) and Process Capability
Previous knowledge of life data analysis, reliability distributions, and statistical analysis, and related software (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
