Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer will support GM launch, focusing on engineering changes, supplier changes, and process improvements in current production. This role involves risk assessment, validation, and compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements, while minimizing production disruptions.
Responsibilities
Lead quality aspects of engineering changes and supplier changes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain) to assess and validate changes before implementation.
Ensure all quality documentation (Control plans, FMEA, WI) is updated accordingly.
Support process validation activities, including capability studies, PPAP, and Run at Rate.
Ensure supplier PPAP submissions are reviewed and approved in alignment with customer and company standards.
Ensure compliance with IATF, AIAG Core Tools, and internal Quality Management System.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
3-5 years of experience in quality engineering
Strong knowledge of core tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, and SPC)
Experience creating PPAPs and related documentation
Ability to read part drawings
Experience in the automotive industry, particularly with electro/mechanical devices
Knowledge of EV components such as motors and inverters
Experience dealing with automotive customers
Bilingual in Japanese language/translation
Knowledge of Quality Systems such as Q1, IATF16949, NPI (New Product Introduction), FMEA, Control Plans, etc.
Experience with the development of SAP, Control Plans, FMEA’s, Process Operations Standards, etc.
Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering for Electro-Mechanical Processes
Well-organized, attention to detail, and able to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
Ability to lead projects obtaining the support of multiple departments
Analytical skills to understand product and process change points impact
Knowledge with problem-solving tools, such as 5P, 5-why, DOE, FTA, etc.
Work Environment
This position is on the Electric Motor side of the plant, which is housed in the same building as the shocks/struts on a different side. It is a clean room environment requiring approximately 45 hours a week, with additional hours as needed. The role involves working closely with new lines (primarily for GM) that arrived in June 2024. Up to 15% domestic and international travel to suppliers and customers may be required. The shift is from 7:45 . to 5:00 . Expect to walk 10,000+ steps a day in this large plant (800,000 square feet).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
