We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in automotive quality standards, be hands-on with process control and root cause analysis, and contribute to cross-functional efforts to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities Support the implementation and maintenance of IATF 16949 quality management system requirements across manufacturing operations Lead or support PPAP submissions, ensuring compliance with customer and OEM requirements Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and implement effective corrective actions Work cross-functionally to support APQP activities and ensure product quality throughout the development and production life cycle Utilize FMEA and control plans to proactively identify and mitigate risks in the production process Conduct audits and assessments of internal processes and suppliers for compliance to QMS and customer standards Interpret technical drawings using GD&T principles to verify conformance of parts and processes Monitor and analyze production and quality data to maintain process stability and drive continuous improvement initiatives Support customer communication and resolution of quality-related issues Contribute to documentation, training, and process updates related to quality procedures Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field preferred 35+ years of experience in quality engineering, ideally within Tier 1 automotive manufacturing Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, GD&T, and statistical process control Experience with plastics or coatings in an automotive or manufacturing setting is a plus Familiarity with QMS software and systems Strong analytical and communication skills, with a proactive, team-oriented mindset Design Hire is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
