Job Summary: The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that both products and processes comply with established quality standards and specifications. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, conducting inspections, and analyzing production data to identify opportunities for improvement. The Quality Engineer will also troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analyses, and drive corrective actions to improve product consistency and performance. Collaboration with cross-functional team, including manufacturing and design, is essential to maintain quality throughout the production cycle. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail, and a solid understanding of quality assurance principles and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) processes in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and DoD contract requirements. Lead or support failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) using tools such as 8D, FMEA, and Fishbone diagrams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.) to ensure quality is built into every phase of the product lifecycle. Lead internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory inspections. Review engineering designs, specifications, and manufacturing processes to identify potential quality risks and recommend mitigations. Develop inspection plans and quality standards for mechanical, electrical, and complex systems used in defense applications. Work with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements, including source inspection and FAI (First Article Inspection). Maintain and analyze quality metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with ITAR, DFARS, and other federal contracting regulations. Participate in Material Review Boards (MRB) and nonconformance resolution processes. Support product and process validation through the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies and the development and submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation in compliance with customer and industry standards. Assist with companywide tasks. Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (preferred) · 10+ years of quality engineering experience in a defense, aerospace, or government contracting environment.
Physical Requirements: · Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to operate standard office and inspection equipment. · Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. · Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally. · Must be able to work in environments that include manufacturing floors, clean rooms, and test labs, with occasional exposure to machinery or moving parts. · Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
