Location: Kansas City, KS
Contract: 12 months (extension likely)
Schedule: M-F (1st Shift)
Compensation: $50-55/hour, optional benefits, PTO, and paid holidays
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer V to join a dynamic team responsible for identifying, resolving, and preventing quality issues in vehicle assembly. This is a high-impact role requiring fast-paced problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration with suppliers, engineers, and production staff to ensure optimal manufacturing quality.
Key Responsibilities Resolve supplier quality and engineering issues affecting GCA, Direct Run, and Warranty. Apply Red X and other problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes. Assist production teams in defect prevention and process improvement initiatives. Collaborate with suppliers on Special Process Problem Solving (SPPS) and verify corrective actions. Share lessons learned with Engineering to prevent repeated design/build issues. Review and disposition nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies. Conduct periodic system and process audits at both plant and supplier facilities. Support engineering change implementation and assist with Production Trial Runs (PTRs). Day-to-Day Activities Receive daily direction from team leads and eventually take ownership of specific parts and commodities. Utilize radios for floor issue alerts and engage in problem-solving activities as needed. Participate in hands-on training to become proficient in systems, tools, and processes. Work with engineering, suppliers, and third-party vendors to resolve quality concerns. Operate in a high-paced environment where a vehicle is produced every 60 seconds. Qualifications
Required Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Team-oriented with high attention to detail. Leadership and mentoring capabilities. Familiarity with interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and reports. Experience with engineering software such as CAD. Basic computer programming knowledge is a plus. Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Experience: Open to all experience levels.
