Purpose:
Responsible for monitoring product quality throughout all stages of the production process. Works will all departments to ensure customer satisfaction. Follow accepted policies and procedures to ensure a robust Quality Management System is maintained.
General Duties:
Requires substantial physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing 50 lbs.
Responsible for creating PPAP submissions, control plans, inspection standards, APQP documentation, FMEA, process flow, and additional quality related documentation
Works directly with other departments to determine process and equipment parameters
Conducts analysis, using engineering and statistical methodologies, in the development of new, revised and refined process enhancements; renders technical expertise and assistance to operators; develops sound operating practices and procedures for assigned area
Ensures that customer’s quality requirements are met and monitored on a regular basis
Supports corrective and preventative actions for internal and external quality issues
Contributes to the continuous improvement process of the QMS
Conducts internal and external quality audits as needed on-site and at off-site locations
Performs other duties as required
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
Skills:
Ability to read a detailed drawing, GD&T experience a plus
Must be proficient in basic computer programs (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word)
Must understand basic Problem solving methods
Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and Part Submission Warrants
Observes OSHA, EPA, and Company rules and regulations concerning safety
Good communication skills with at all levels of the company
Ability to multi-task under tight timelines
Able to travel off site to assist at customer locations as needed
Requires working in temperature extremes
Assists in Kaizen implementation and 5S
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering and/or five years of experience, preferred in the automotive industry (preferable in aluminum forging and casting). Experience will be considered in lieu of degree. ASQ certification a plus.
Knowledge of statistical analysis, precision measurement, process validation, supplier quality, product testing, training and development, process capability studies, good verbal and written skills.
