Position Summary The Nuclear Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing quality requirements to ensure that products meet customer expectations and comply with industry and regulatory standards. This role supports internal and external auditing activities and contributes to the continuous improvement of the company's Quality Assurance (QA) program. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret customer orders and specifications to identify applicable quality requirements. Prepare Job Quality Requirement (JQR) documents to integrate customer requirements into the QA program. Develop and implement inspection and testing methods, including acceptance criteria, to ensure contractual compliance. Monitor quality performance and product conformance throughout the lifecycle, from design through shipment. Evaluate work repair instructions and recommend changes to maintain compliance. Review certifications of procured items to verify contractual and regulatory compliance. Review and approve supplier procedures and specifications. Review and process Change Orders. Communicate with customers on quality-related issues as needed. Coordinate customer and third-party source inspections with internal Quality Control staff. Compile and submit QA documentation for customer approval. Support deviation requests and liaise with customers for resolution. Maintain and continuously improve the company's QA program in accordance with current standards. Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce lead times. Support internal audits and lead selected supplier audits. Assist in maintaining the company's Nuclear Approved Supplier List. Review and assess industry audits shared by the Nuclear Industry Assessment Committee (NIAC). Schedule and coordinate activities with the Authorized Nuclear Inspector for witness testing and documentation. Qualifications and Required Skills: To perform this role successfully, candidates must meet the following requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (with strong metallurgical background) from an accredited four-year institution. Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role. At least 1 year of experience in a Nuclear Quality Assurance role. At least 1 year of auditing experience; 2+ years preferred. Experience in valve manufacturing preferred. Hands-on experience in a Nuclear Safety Culture environment preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems preferred. Technical Knowledge Knowledge of ASME, NQA-1, 10CFR50 Appendix B, and 10CFR Part 21. Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001; familiarity with NACE and API preferred. Experience reviewing and interpreting specifications and Material Test Reports (MTRs). Working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques, including Penetrant Testing (minimum). Basic understanding of welding practices per ASME Section IX. Understanding of material traceability in manufacturing environments. Knowledge of Commercial Grade Item Dedication (CGID); hands-on experience preferred. Familiarity with inspection tools, techniques, and blueprint reading preferred. NQA-1 Lead Auditor qualification preferred. Proficiency in ERP systems. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Additional Requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities. Understanding of international business etiquette and time zone considerations. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%. Pay range : $ 110,000 - $140,000 Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable. Bonus eligibility : This position is also eligible for a variable incentive pay component, separate from base salary.
