Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Work under experienced Electrical Engineers and Licensed Professional Engineers to learn how to create and modify design documents and drawings for an electrical engineering project, including one-lines, three-lines, control schematics and wiring diagrams, auxiliary AC and DC Power Systems, relay panel arrangements and specifications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, and generating bills of material.
Work with various project teams to fully develop system integration of protection, control, automation, and monitoring systems.
Learn how to perform engineering calculations such as relay burden, voltage drop, short circuit calculations, battery sizing calculations, auxiliary AC and DC load tabulations, and others as needed to support successful projects.
Develop your expertise to perform relay coordination studies and prepare protective relay and SCADA settings for utility clients.
Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with project managers, lead engineers, designers and drafters as-needed
Required Skills and Abilities Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate the overall design package and requirements
Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work product
Positive interpersonal skills and demonstrated verbal and written communications skills
Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university in Electrical Engineering.
+ years experience in substation relay protection and control design ranging kV to kV+.
EIT designation strongly preferred but not required. EIT designation is required to progress towards Professional Engineering Licensure, which is needed to progress in your career at Amped I.
