Overview
A Project Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operational and administrative aspects of assigned construction projects, while also gaining valuable industry experience and familiarity with internal systems, personnel, and procedures. This role involves direct collaboration with field staff, project teams, and external partners to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. The Project Engineer reports to a Project Manager and is a key part of the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with project functions such as quantity takeoffs, proposal preparation, project setup, procurement, accounting, and cost tracking.

  • Support production forecasting, risk management, and change control processes.

  • Interpret plans and specifications to ensure construction aligns with design intent.

  • Maintain and update project schedules using scheduling software.

  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors; participate in client and partner engagement.

  • Contribute to safety and quality efforts across assigned projects.

  • Create and maintain clear documentation and written communication with project stakeholders.

  • Train and mentor others in areas of expertise, promoting knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial, mechanical, or heavy civil construction.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent technical experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with industrial construction practices and terminology.

  • Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estimating software, Viewpoint, and Procore is a plus.

  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of labor costing, production factors (e.g., MCAA), and rate structures for various work activities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, diverse team environment.

Working Conditions

  • Based at the corporate office in Vancouver, WA, with the possibility of jobsite travel or temporary relocation.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs as needed.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with site-specific training and certification requirements.
