Location: Charlotte, NC (NCDOT/SCDOT Projects) | Full-Time | Field-Based
MUST HAVES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Required)
5+ years of hands-on experience with NCDOT or SCDOT projects (Required)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, BlueBeam, and CAD
Familiarity with project software tools like P6 and HCSS is a plus
Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and teamwork skills
Valid Driver’s License & clean driving record

Our client, a top-tier heavy civil contractor, is looking for a Project Engineer to support major infrastructure projects across the Carolinas. You’ll be a key player in ensuring project success—from field coordination and cost tracking to materials procurement and schedule development.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit RFIs, submittals, certifications , and documentation for quality control
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure compliance with plans, specs, and field conditions
Coordinate subcontractors to maintain high safety and quality standards
Track material quantities for cost control and progress payments
Assist with CPM scheduling , including sequencing and duration analysis
Support the design of temporary works such as formwork, falsework, and shoring
Oversee material procurement and delivery to align with project schedules
Develop and review shop drawings, as-builts, and contract documents
Contribute to the planning of safe, efficient field execution strategies
Travel Requirements
Local project travel during business hours is expected
Occasional overnight and out-of-area travel may be required
