Nammo Defense Systems, Inc., a defense contractor, is the primary USA operation of the Nammo Group (Nammo AS). Nammo Defense Systems Inc. (NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures.
JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a highly qualified professional individual to fill the role of Mission Assurance Quality Engineer. The candidate shall possess 5+ years of experience in Aerospace/Defense industry. The preferred candidate has demonstrated experience with NASA, (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), or NRL, (Naval Research Laboratory) spaceflight Hardware development.
Among other existing activities, the successful candidate will help lead the wide spectrum of mission quality assurance activities required throughout the product life cycle, (hardware development phases,  testing activities through witnessing inspections and test, reviewing and approving manufacturing procedures, designs, requirements for subcontractors, participating in Program and Technical Reviews, Change Control, Change Implementation, and Material Review Boards, Failure Investigation, Root Cause and Corrective/Preventative Action teams, hosting customer audits, and presenting hardware and manufacturing /quality documentation for customer review and acceptance, and timely ensure completion of CDRLs/SDRLs to meet company delivery commitments. The candidate will be an active member of the Proposals cross-functional team and responsible for reviewing customer contractual flow-downs, timely budget the corresponding required Mission Assurance Quality Engineering activities and document the basis of estimate in the required proposals systems. Supporting other quality and mission assurance activities, such as improving the Quality Management System, reporting mission assurance Quality KPIs, and drive required improvements working with cross-functional teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supports PM requests, meetings & proposals
• Perform QA Contract Checklists
• Participate in the Sales Order Kick-Off and Close-out meetings
• Drive closure of “last job” open items prior new job starts
• Preparation of Program CDRLS, (QAPPS, FMEA, CCP, AIEs, KPIs, etc)
• Conduct Supplier Quality Requirements Flow-down kick-off meetings.
• Requisitions, CRB, CIB, and ECN approvals
• Program Quality KPI Tracking, and reporting
• Customer Visits, Quality Surveys
• GSIR activities scheduling & DCMA coordination
• Generates ADCs, submits to WARP, C of Cs, and other tasks supporting shipments
• Works with development, project, supplier and manufacturing engineering, with manufacturing, planning and other disciplines to ensure the quality of the product.
• Inspect and review lot manufacturing and quality records completeness and correctness.
• Analyzes work instructions and procedures for errors and potential failure points.
• Assists in establishing in-process quality control audits, reports results, and drives improvements.
• Monitors FOD prevention programs and drives improvements with the operations teams.
• Works with the Factory Material Review Board, drives timely disposition of materials and effective corrective actions.
• Works with supplier quality engineering in the effective resolution of supplier quality defects affecting manufacturing first-time-right.
• Supports engineering during both the development cycle and product introduction phase for various defense and military related products.
• Ensures the execution of customer product quality plans and specifications and supports the preparation of physical configuration audits, collection, and analysis of F.A.I data, and any customer quality activity in the manufacturing floor.
• Reviews & analyzes trends, paretos, manufacturing quality data and drives continuous improvement
• Supports Visual Daily Management and drives daily short-term quality countermeasures for timely resolution of quality discrepancies.
• Ensures the manufacturing activities are performed in compliance with the Quality Management System requirements.
• Initiates change proposals in collaboration with manufacturing, customer and project
• Prepares and communicates quality alerts to heighten employee awareness towards internal or external quality concerns.
• Follow standard practices and safety procedures.
• Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

• Ability to drive Containment, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions in a cross-functional team environment, and knowledge and experience with the 8D Methodology.
• Knowledge and experience with preference in a variety of Lean tools such as, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Daily Visual Management, 5S, 5Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, Problem Solving Process, and Visual Project Management.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting challenging deadlines.

• Excellent attention to detail and follow up.
• Strong work ethic, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere.
• BS Degree in Engineering, Quality, or business BS Degree in Engineering or Business or equivalent verifiable experience and skills.
• Experience in the Defense Industry with preference working in ordnance and use of energetic materials, powders/propellants is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of statistics, with particular emphasis on process control, sample selection and measurement systems.
• Ability to create and implement process control plans.
• Experience with AS9100 / ISO 9000 quality management systems, corrective and preventative action, CDRLs. NDT, MIL-STD-1916, and MIL-STD-1168
• Strong oral and written communication skills,
• Good organization and project time management skills
• Six Sigma Green belt certification or higher preferred
• Experience with statistical analysis software such as Minitab is desirable.
• Experience with enterprise tools such as Cost Point, Cost Point M.E.S is desirable.
• Proficient in Word, Power Point and Excel (including proficiency with Pivot tables/Charts)
• Experience with PFMEAs, PLVs and SPC is preferred.
• ASQ Certification is desirable, CQE/Quality Auditor.
• Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations.
