Product/Infrastructure Engineer Mission Bay, San Francisco, CA

4 Days Old

The convergence of laboratory automation, high-throughput assays, and machine learning is rapidly moving biological discovery onto silicon. We are building a platform to store, visualize, and analyze this next generation of scientific insights. Teams at pharmaceutical, biotech, and solution provider companies trust and rely on our technology to enhance, inform, and deliver their products. This is a tiny team (13 as of July 18th, 2025) which has over four years built and sold a large amount of genuinely useful, interesting tech to a difficult market which is skeptical of newcomers. Our customers have a broad range of product expectations, require close collaboration and nuanced communication, include both technical and non-technical users, and routinely execute computational tasks involving multiple terabytes of data. Our persistence is leading to market validation. In the past year (July to July), we have more than tripled our revenue. More importantly for our long term growth, we have a repeatable sales process with a path to 50 million ARR over the next three years. Here is a sample of our core product offerings Distributed file-system with metadata on Postgres and blobs on S3. Includes a web UI, and a FUSE driver Workflow orchestrator based on Kubernetes Interactive on-demand compute instances based on Kubernetes containers Statically-typed tabular data storage engine Reactive Python-based web application framework for data analysis and visualization Upcoming : a cluster orchestrator and workflow engine designed to accept compute nodes from anywhere on the internet Startups dedicated to just one of these things pop-up periodically, with most of them pursuing less-general implementations. This is a very tech-heavy company. About the role We are looking for people to join our team of five engineers. You will be working on problems in software, including but not limited to web development, systems programming, database administration, and cloud infrastructure. Engineers are given enormous responsibility and creative freedom over the design and implementation of features built. The tools and features we ship immediately impact the daily workflows of hundreds of scientists. We work directly with end users to rapidly fix issues and continuously refine our product. We think the below are good indicators of fit Interest in computer systems and their inner workings e.g. compilers, operating systems, databases, distributed systems, programming language theory Desire to do "the right thing" in all situations—write good code, make people happy, ship just-right: not too soon, not too late Ability to see and pursue art and craft in software engineering Preference for inter-personal connection at work over a strictly regimented process Flexibility in methods and area of work How we work 5-day weeks, in-person in San Francisco Mission Bay 1-week-long sprints Deep collaboration between Engineering, Product, and Sales Engineers attend weekly: 2 company-wide meetings (planning and demo) + 15-min stand-up each day Tech: TypeScript, Python, React, Postgres, Docker, Linux, Kubernetes.
