This individual must be knowledgeable of the physical and chemical operations in manufacturing Key Intermediate silicone products. This position has responsibility for investigating and prioritizing opportunities for process optimization and improvement in order to influence, impact, and implement these changes. One key role of the incumbent is to take the lead in scale-up of new products from lab to industrial scale. The candidate will lead prioritized efforts to transfer products and processes between Americas and other regions as well as lead or provide input into new equipment/new process capability development.
The successful candidate will work primarily within the context of a team in support of the R&I and Industrial teams focused on silicone polymer synthesis, hydrosilylation chemistry with fundamental understandings of impact formulated silicone properties. Responsibilities include participation in new product development teams with a focus on scale-up and support of the industrial team by reviewing existing chemical processes and making recommendations for improvements as it relates to safety, quality and productivity. Review and recommendations will include specific equipment or control strategies, development of cost estimates and investigative results of new processes/techniques that would benefit the growth of Elkem Silicones. The individual must be an independent, self-starter and extremely self-motivated to stay focused.
Some knowledge of silicone elastomers is beneficial to address use of Key Intermediate materials and to address some specific project needs.
