Job Purpose
A technical resource available to support production as they strive to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, as well as the bottom line (profits). To aid the production and other engineering team members to develop/improve mfg. process execution by improving procedures/methods, conditions, executing experiments, and qualifying products and raw materials. Provides troubleshooting support and direction to resolve problems. Input is also expected on observations on the behavior of new materials and ways the process / product can be improved. Investigates continuous improvement of tooling and production methods to advance personal and company knowledge of production processes. Principal Accountabilities Provide process improvement support for production in areas of equipment design, material processing, ERP system, and documentation. Design or specify and implement equipment necessary to support process continuous improvements and developments.
Reviews daily performance of production processes including safety, quality, scrap, and rework. Takes appropriate actions to address problem areas to minimize/improve. Provides feedback to mfg. personnel as appropriate and communicates with supervision if there are performance, tooling or training needs that need to be addressed.
Leader on the production floor, showing adherence to company culture and safety policies.
Engineering project management (justification, design, and implementation) related to their department including, but not limited to, Capital Expense Requests.
Continually improve operating efficiency (increase yield, reduce cycle time, etc.) for manufacturing operation. Initiate and implement capital projects necessary for improving operating efficiency.
New equipment design, specification, and installation
Responsible for all Standard Operating Procedures and related documentation within their department. Assist with updating and reviews of SOPs as needed.
Audits tooling inspection process, reviews tooling inventory and ensures sufficient tooling is in place and in good condition to achieve desired results. Ensures procedures are followed and initiate corrective actions as required. Audits tool cleaning and painting operation for compliance to procedures and quality of results. Obtain quotes for tooling, equipment, etc. Write CER’s, enter purchase requisitions and get tooling, equipment, etc. installed
Present proposals and assist in implementation of global R&D efforts for process improvement and development.
Collaborate with global R&D team and business line leaders
Recognizes, initiates, leads, and implements problem solving efforts with plant personnel to achieve safety, production, and performance goals.
All department tasks as assigned by manager.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Industry Experience in process engineering or polymer processing Preferred - preferably in stock shapes and advanced materials
Ability to work well with different functions and levels of organization (e.g.- Safety, Maintenance, Production Operators, Shift Supervisors, Quality, Business Manager, etc.).
6Sigma Green Belt or higher (prefered), Statistics, DOE, and Process Optimization experience.
Ability to work independently, multitask, analyze results and plan improvements.
Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft office tools.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Solidworks and AutoCAD experience (preferred)
Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections) The salary range for this position is $75,600 - $94,500. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
