Principal Systems Engineer I

Spirent is seeking an expert-level Systems Engineer to lead our technical engagement with one of our most strategic Tier-1 customers: T-Mobile. This is a high-impact, highly visible role that combines deep technical expertise, consultative solutioning, and strategic account development.
As the technical lead aligned to the T-Mobile account, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities, architecting integrated solutions across Spirent's diverse portfolio, and driving both technical and business value. This role is equal parts Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, and Technical Strategist, requiring advanced knowledge of 5G, cloud-native deployments, AI, and service assurance, along with the ability to influence and collaborate at every level of the customer organization.
You will work alongside account executives, product teams, and Spirent leadership to deliver compelling solutions that align with T-Mobile's business goals and network roadmap.

Bachelor's degree, from an accredited university, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another Technical Field; or equivalent work experience. Minimum 12 years of relevant experience working in a technical customer-facing role. Proven ability to architect and communicate end-to-end solutions across complex domains. Deep technical expertise in: 5G/4G mobile core architecture (including cloud-native CNFs). Service assurance, test automation, and network validation. AI/ML applications in telecom and operations. Cloud platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, or Azure.
Familiarity with emerging telecom technologies, including network slicing monetization, private 5G, NEF/APIs, AI/ML for service assurance, Open RAN, and cloud-native 5G core evolution. Passion for staying ahead of the curve on AIOps, security frameworks, and next-gen network architecture. Ability to deliver compelling presentations that align technical solutions with business impact. Experience working directly with Tier-1 operators, particularly within engineering, operations, and strategy teams. A consultative, customer-first mindset and a passion for solving tough business challenges with technology. Strong visual and verbal communication skills; you're as comfortable with a C-suite presentation as you are on a whiteboard. Willingness to travel as needed (up to 25%).
Annualized Salary Wage Range: $175,000 - $285,000
Spirent applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience at or in line with the minimum requirements.
