About the Role We’re looking for a hands-on Principal Engineer who can lead the design and development of complex data-driven systems. You’ll start as a key individual contributor, owning critical backend and data infrastructure. As we grow, you’ll mentor others, lead projects, and help shape a high-performing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who: • Thrives on solving open-ended technical problems • Wants real ownership of architecture and outcomes • Knows how to build systems that scale, last, and evolve • Prefers Python but cares more about the right solution than the tool You'll help us ingest and analyze billions of user behavior records in real-time to detect insider threats — with sub-second latency and high reliability.
What You’ll Do • Architect and build core backend systems • Own end-to-end data flows: ingestion, transformation, storage, querying • Collaborate with product and data teams to shape solutions • Optimize for performance, scale, and developer experience • Write maintainable code with strong interfaces and testing • Set and promote high technical standardsMentor engineers and evolve into a team leadership role Our Stack Includes: • Python, FastAPIPostgreSQL, ClickHouseDocker, Linux, cloud-native tools • Experience with these is helpful but not required — we value problem-solving and architectural thinking over buzzword familiarity. What We’re Looking For We care more about your ability to solve problems than exact years of experience or tool-by-tool match. Must-Have: • Proven experience building backend systems from scratch • Strong Python or adjacent language skills • Deep experience with relational databases and performance tuning • Experience with production data workflows • Clear, async-friendly communication in a remote setting Nice-to-Have: • ClickHouse or other columnar DB experience • Docker, Linux, CI/CDML/analytics/data pipeline familiarity Benefits This is a remote job.
