Grow. with us.To save time applying, Toyota does not offer sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based visas or any other work authorization for this position at this time.Who we’re looking forToyota’sCarbon Neutrality and Regulatory AffairsDepartment is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Principal Engineer, Crash Avoidance and Intelligent Transportation Systems.The primary responsibility of this role is to represent the company’s positions related to crash avoidance, vehicle communications and alternative fuel vehicle-related safety topics with outside organizations, such as the USDOT/NHTSA, FCC, ITS-America, AutoInnovators, NFPA, etc.Reporting to the General Manager, the person in this role will support the Safety Regulation and Research department's objective to provide insight into the regulatory and governmental policy direction on safety issues.This position is based at our office in Washington, DC. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.What you’ll be doingLead development and manage company positions on Federal regulations.Develop and represent company policy positions with government (Federal & State), NGOs, and other interested parties.Analyze and provide insight and guidance on potential future regulatory direction.Monitor activities in the US States and lead the company in policy development on crash avoidance, vehicle communications, and alternative-fuel safety-related topics.Develop relationships with outside organizations on areas of responsibility for this position.What you bringBachelor of Science in Engineering (or higher) or equivalent technical background with relevant professional work experienceFamiliarity with the USDOT/NHTSA regulations, FCC regulations, SAE Recommended Practices, and regulatory development processesExperience in developing, organizing, and forecasting future governmental regulatory direction and policiesExperience in consensus building through strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build positive relationships within and outside the companyAbility and willingness to travel 20% of the time, including potential international travelThis position requires driving; a motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this positionAdded bonus if you haveMaster of Science in Engineering or other advanced degree in a closely related field or a Master of Business Administration (MBA)Automotive regulatory experienceExperience leading cross-functional working groupsJapanese language skillsWhat We’ll BringDuring your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities.
