Position: Power Engineer/Specialist (Primetals Technologies USA LLC; Alpharetta, GA) Duties : Execute Power System Solutions, including enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to existing industrial power systems, and integrate the appropriate hardware and software. Develop material specifications and schematics for complex power systems, Substations, and SCADA systems. Lead small to medium size projects as a senior project engineer or lead engineer. Conduct power system analysis such as load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis using tools like DigSilent Power Factory, SKM, ETAP and Easy Power. Design protection and control schematics for outdoor substations (34.5kV to 230kV) for industrial customers. Utilize NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards to specify and evaluate the power system equipment and integrate the various equipment to build customized power system solutions for our customers. Develop Single line diagram (SLDs), Three-line diagrams (TLDs), and physical substation designs including yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, string wiring plans, and associated bills of material. Minimum education required :Master’s degree or the equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum experience required :2 years of experience with power systems, solar and renewables, or related experience.
Skills required :Must have experience with: Renewables, microgrids and solar power system design; Knowledge of Power systems Analysis and Stability, Power electronics & drives, Liner & non-linear advanced control systems, Power systems operation; CAD skills such as AutoCAD Electrical; Electrical standards IEEE, ANSI, NFPA and NEC; Power system steady state analysis including equipment sizing, load flow, short circuit, equipment evaluation, protection coordination; Power system software’s SKM, Power Factory, PVsyst; Developing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and Three Line Diagrams (TLDs), layouts, plans, aux power systems, string wiring plans; Performing site surveys to analyze existing electrical equipment and recommend upgrades to the equipment based on the latest codes; Supporting business and marketing with cost estimates and specifications; Passing score in FE Electrical and Computer Exam; NABCEP Photovoltaic Associate certification.
