Summary The Plant Engineer provides critical support to the QUAB production unit in the areas of maintenance, reliability, project engineering, and EHS compliance. The position ensures that maximum operating uptime is achieved through the managed programs in order to safely meet production goals in compliance with state, federal, and site requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage mechanical reliability and asset lifecycle, including preventive and predictive maintenance (RCM) and SAP PM planning and coordination
Lead technical improvement projects, provide expertise, and overseeing plant trials and process changes
Support daily operations and troubleshooting, assisting with hazard assessments, and collaborating on key business KPIs
Administer plant systems such as ESTER (incident management, NCRs, MOC), PlantDoc (P&IDs, datasheets), and continuous improvement platforms
Maintain technical documentation and ensuring compliance with ESSHQ standards, including air permit management and regulatory reporting
Coordinate and support audits (PHA, ISO, ESSH, PSM/RMP), tracking corrective actions, and leading investigations and root cause analyses
Manage spare parts strategy, monitoring inventory levels, and tracking maintenance KPIs such as cost and overall equipment efficiency (OEE)
Oversee DCS changes and alarm management, planning and managing plant turnarounds, and supporting safety systems like Lockout/Tagout and work permits
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical plant environment in engineering or maintenance, with a focus on equipment reliability and performance; ESSHQ experience is a plus
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, business principles, and regulatory compliance (PHA, OSHA PSM, EPA RMP)
Hands-on experience working in cross-functional plant teams and directly on the plant floor
Ability to manage technical documentation, plan small capital projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Familiarity with hazardous chemicals and safety protocols, including PPE usage and chemical hazard awareness
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated strengths in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, time management, and team collaboration
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools; SAP experience is a plus, and capable of extended computer-based work
