– Packaging Engineer Contractor
Pay: $33/hr+, based on experience
Location: Chicago, IL
Primary Purpose
• The role will focus on getting all packaging specifications into PLM and managing the commercialization projects associated with ongoing/future local, state, and federal product and packaging legislation.
Major Responsibilities
• Transformation of Material & Finished Good Specifications into future state SAP S4 Hana content
• Support and commercialize items in internal systems as needed
• Create technical specifications for finished goods and packaging materials used in the manufacturing process
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities associated with manufacturing, materials, and overall package quality
• Implement specification data quality standards and requirements
• Make necessary revisions and updates to Excel templates and load files
• Communicate continuously with Symphony ITL Workstream on progress and status
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
• Uphold the company’s core values
• Perform other assigned duties
Competencies/Skills/Knowledge Required
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• SAP experience preferred
• Experience with TOPS or CAPE Shipper/Palletization software
• Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) experience preferred
• Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels of management
• Self-directed, motivated, and good time management skills
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Education and Experience
• A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Packaging Engineering/Science, or a related field is highly preferred
• 2 years of experience in the food industry, preferably in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry
• 2 years of experience within Regulatory, Quality, Research & Development, or Packaging Engineering
