Job Description:
About the Role:
TreeHouse Foods is seeking a Packaging Engineer based in Oak Brook, IL, responsible for the design, planning, validation, and implementation of new packaging technologies, product/package improvements, line extensions, and technical services. This role supports business objectives by delivering innovative, cost-effective, and high-performing packaging solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.
You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
· Lead and execute moderate to complex technical projects, including cost savings, quality improvements, operational support, and new product development.
· Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams and lead packaging-related efforts during product development, start-ups, and ongoing support for internal and external manufacturing.
· Serve as the technical lead for packaging initiatives, directing activities of team members, support staff, or contractors as needed.
· Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges to ensure projects are completed on time and meet business goals.
· Design, conduct, and analyze experiments to validate packaging concepts and improvements.
· Manage packaging development projects from concept through commercialization, including specifications, testing requirements, in-process control points, operating procedures, and post-launch support.
· Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers and industry groups (e.g., IoPP, SPC) to stay informed of new technologies and best practices.
· Identify opportunities for value creation through innovation, cost reduction, or process improvement.
· Ensure compliance with all safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Important Details:
· This is a full-time, hybrid role on first shift.
· The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $65,500 to $98,300 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
You’ll fit right in if you have:
· Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering, or a related technical field.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in packaging development or engineering.
· Strong ability to influence project direction through technical insight and collaboration.
· Advanced skills in project management, problem solving, and technical communication.
· Experience working cross-functionally with R&D, suppliers, and consultants.
· Solid understanding of packaging materials including paperboard, corrugate, film, plastics, and glass.
· Experience with TOPS/CAPE software strongly preferred.
· Willingness to travel up to 30%.
