Your Impact As an OSP Engineer , you will play a critical role in designing and executing outside plant infrastructure for telecom projects. You'll help drive innovation and ensure successful fiber and copper deployments by coordinating closely with internal teams, external partners, and government agencies. Your work will directly support service expansion, road redesigns, network upgrades, and other high-impact infrastructure initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply both field and technical engineering expertise in a dynamic, growth-driven environment. Core Responsibilities Execute aerial, buried, and underground fiber design and engineering tasks for new builds and upgrades
Utilize Microsoft Office and telecom systems such as FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker, DPI, and QPort for design, documentation, and reporting
Interpret and mark up work prints and field sketches to ensure alignment with engineering specifications
Calculate fiber cable assignments (binders, groups, super groups) and maintain 12-fiber increment accuracy
Apply knowledge of copper cable infrastructure, including gauge, pressure, and mining practices
Coordinate with DOTs, local jurisdictions, and private landowners for facility location and infrastructure redesigns
Work cross-functionally with Construction, Field Ops, and Central Office teams to deliver integrated project plans
Lead engineering efforts for Ethernet, DSLAMs, cell sites, and business service requests (ASE, GigE, etc.)
Track project milestones and ensure timely material ordering, permitting, and private ROW negotiations
Apply network and voice technology knowledge to ensure project viability and compliance with legal and technical standards
Core Experience Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR 3+ years of OSP Engineering/Planning in telecom or broadband
Telecom Fieldwork: Proficient in residential/commercial new builds using aerial, buried, and underground methods
Fiber & Copper Knowledge: Hands-on experience working with both fiber and copper infrastructure, including backbone and feeder systems
Software Expertise: Skilled in Microsoft Office and telecom systems including FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker, DPI, and QPort
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication; able to engage with agencies, contractors, and internal teams effectively
Self-Starter: Highly motivated, deadline-oriented, and comfortable working independently and remotely
On-Site Readiness: Willing to drive to customer sites or field offices as needed to perform site walks, resolve issues, or support permitting and construction
Candidates must live within approximately one hour of Three Rivers, Michigan. Project Location: Three Rivers, MI.
