OPERATIONS ENGINEER , MIT.nano, will be responsible for operation, training and maintenance of semiconductor research equipment within the MIT.nano facility. Equipment responsibilities include lithography, wet processing stations, reactive ion etchers (RIE), chemical and physical vapor deposition systems (PVD and CVD), and thermal processing systems. Expertise will include lithography, etch and deposition techniques, proper chemical handling, safety and storage, and support system maintenance and service.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering, physics, chemistry, or related discipline; excellent written and oral communications skills as well as strong interpersonal skills and ability to work alone or within a team environment; a keen interest in training the user community; demonstrated ability to recognize and respond to unsafe conditions or dangerous situations; knowledge and experience with safe working practices for working with hazardous materials; and proficiency in hazard communication and learning/understanding safety information (e.g. Safety Data Sheets, PubChem). PREFERRED: Two or more years of experience working in a cleanroom or semiconductor process facility; experienced trainer in one-on-one interactions or in large groups (20-30 people), with the ability to convey complex ideas to personnel with diverse backgrounds and education experience; experience working with hazardous materials including inert, flammable and toxic compressed gases, wet corrosive chemicals and solvents; working knowledge of established and emerging research processes, with ability to assist researchers in experimental design; experience with program logic controllers; and proficient in document and data management tools.
