Responsibilities:
Part of the video IP systems team responsible for the video technology roadmap; collaboration with design, verification, system, firmware, software, SOC, and power teams; expertise in video algorithms, image quality analysis; staying updated on video processing and compression trends with standardization committees.
Qualcomm leads in integrated chipsets powering advanced mobile devices, XR/IoT/Automotive, and computing platforms. We focus on innovation in wireless technologies and multimedia capabilities. We seek experienced system engineers for our video codec hardware architecture and design efforts. The video Systems group provides solutions across Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, including video processing algorithms and IP architecture for compression, visual signal processing, and analytics, optimized for power and performance.
The selected candidate will have responsibilities including:
Designing and evaluating video algorithms for hardware encoders and decoders.
Defining system architecture for video solutions, including data flow, task partitioning, interfaces, and system interoperability.
Developing models to simulate hardware performance and support hardware verification and software development.
Collaborating across systems, software, and hardware teams during design, validation, and commercialization phases.
Researching and developing video algorithms for mobile, automotive, compute, and VR/AR applications emphasizing performance and power efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 15+ years of systems engineering experience.
PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Communications - Signal Processing, Computer Science, or related field with 12+ years of experience.
Knowledge of video coding standards such as VVC, AV1, HEVC, H.264/AVC, VP9.
Hands-on experience in video codec design, algorithms, and flow.
Proficiency in C/C++, Python scripting.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hardware C modeling experience.
Experience in image quality evaluation and metric comparisons.
Knowledge of signal/image processing, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms for video/image processing.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 8+ years of experience.
Master’s degree with 7+ years, or PhD with 6+ years of relevant experience.
