Network Engineer
Our client is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise-level networking to support and enhance a global campus infrastructure. This position will focus on Tier 3 support for complex network environments, leveraging Cisco and Palo Alto technologies to maintain high performance and security across diverse corporate, manufacturing, and distribution facilities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, thrives in fast-changing environments, and can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Military technical backgrounds and adaptability are valued.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Network Engineer Responsibilities Deliver Tier 3 network support, diagnosing and resolving complex issues to ensure uninterrupted connectivity across global sites.
Implement and maintain network configurations, including VLAN changes, switchport updates, and routing adjustments, following established standards.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot network performance using tools such as SolarWinds and Cisco Catalyst Center.
Administer Palo Alto firewalls through Panorama, including policy management, troubleshooting, and segmentation enforcement.
Oversee IP address and DNS management using BlueCat IPAM solutions.
Collaborate with internal teams to optimize network performance for critical business applications.
Contribute to network-related projects within an Agile framework, leveraging tools like JIRA for task tracking.
Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of network setups, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
Network Engineer Qualifications Minimum of 7 years’ hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering.
Expert-level proficiency with Cisco technologies, including Catalyst Switches (9300–9600 series), Nexus platforms, CLI configuration, EIGRP/BGP routing, and VRF-lite.
Solid understanding of basic Cisco Wireless connectivity support.
Advanced knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls, including Panorama centralized management, security policies, NAT, and VPNs.
Experience with BlueCat or similar IPAM systems for IP/DNS management.
Skilled in network monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds and Cisco Catalyst Center.
Familiarity with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) and Agile workflows using JIRA.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Effective communicator, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE) are preferred.
Bonus: Experience with network automation, Python scripting, or Cisco Catalyst Center automation features.
