Point Solutions Security (PSS) is seeking a skilled Network Infrastructure Consultant to support our client with a comprehensive infrastructure assessment, network redesign, and IT/OT knowledge transfer. This is a one-time project-based engagement focused on enhancing network clarity, reducing architectural complexity, and aligning systems with foundational cybersecurity principles.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in both IT and OT environments, understands secure architecture principles (such as NIST CSF or Zero Trust), and can translate technical findings into actionable plans and training for utility teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesPhase 1 - Discovery & Assessment (60-80 hours)
  • Conduct planning meetings and on-site assessments

  • Document current SD-WAN and network topology

  • Interview IT and OT stakeholders to understand system dependencies

  • Evaluate firewalls, switches, and segmentation design

  • Map OT environment and assess current security postures

Phase 2 - Design & Architecture (40-50 hours)
  • Develop a simplified, future-ready architecture (potential SD-WAN removal)

  • Design secure IT/OT segmentation and firewall configurations

  • Integrate Zero Trust or role-based access strategies where appropriate

  • Incorporate controls aligned with frameworks like NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or CISA Zero Trust

  • Present and finalize the network design package with stakeholders

Phase 3 - Implementation & Rebuild (80-100 hours)
  • Configure network hardware: firewalls, routers, switches

  • Execute staged migration plans with rollback contingencies

  • Perform connectivity tests and apply device/interface hardening

  • Collaborate with vendors and district IT during cutover activities

Phase 4 - Documentation & Handoff (30-40 hours)
  • Deliver updated network diagrams, address schema, and VLAN design

  • Transfer secure configuration backups and network SOPs

  • Facilitate workshops to train internal IT/OT teams

  • Ensure staff can maintain, troubleshoot, and support redesigned systems

Candidate Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or IT/OT infrastructure consulting

  • Deep understanding of SD-WAN, firewalls, segmentation, and access controls

  • Experience with NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or Zero Trust frameworks

  • Strong communication skills and ability to conduct stakeholder-facing workshops

  • Ability to work independently in a time & materials engagement model
