The Mission Planning Systems Engineer/SME will help develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules and training requirements throughout the project design process for various mission planning products. This role requires experience within military organizations, preferably in air operations or air traffic control, but equivalent experience in naval or ground force mission planning operations would suffice, as well as familiarity with C4ISR technologies and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and maintain a detailed project schedule that spans the mission planning product processes, from initial planning through to product release and subsequent updates.
- Support the Program Manage in overseeing the development, release delivery, and/or support of mission planning technical products, ensuring timely delivery using a multi-disciplinary framework.
- Work with Program Managers and customer representatives to define development strategies, product requirements, and identify potential operational issues.
- Prioritize the evolution of mission planning system capabilities and advancements in product architecture to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Support a diverse team of operational and technical personnel, ensuring alignment with project timelines, goals, and technical requirements.
- Interface with senior client officers and manage training program development/execution and resource allocation to ensure project goals are met.
- Develop and execute project and process plans and implement policies and procedures to achieve operational goals.
- Monitor, track, and report on mission planning product implementation, including timelines, budgets, issues, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate new standards and compliance requirements, conduct C4ISR modernization studies, system performance assessments, and capability gap analysis to inform product roadmap decisions.
- Collaborate across technical disciplines such as software design, networking, and wireless communications to ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field (Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline).
- At least 4-6 years of experience within a military organization, preferably in air operations or air traffic control, but equivalent experience in naval or ground operational mission planning would suffice. Experience in the Middle East is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with C4ISR technologies, including command and control, communications, and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance is highly desired
- Experience in operational mission planning products such as C2Core (Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS), WIDOW (Web-based Information Dominant Warfare) planning tool, Command View, Integrated Mission Planning and Airspace Control Tools (IMPACT), NYX mission planning platform, etc. project management, leading diverse teams of engineers and technicians, and managing client relations and budgets.
- General understanding of hardware installation, power systems, and facilities management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders at various levels, including senior client officers.
