As a Metrology Engineer at MGS, you will serve as the technical subject matter expert for metrology system development, GD&T, Gage R&R, and measurement methods supporting our molding and automated assembly processes. This role is critical in supporting the quality and reliability of parts for a major healthcare customer—contributing to a product that makes a difference for our team, our customers, and their patients.
What You'll Do:
Identify, develop, and document measurement strategy for all in-process, start-up, and process control dimensions required for each molded component and subassembly.
Identify equipment required for all required component measurements.
Develop metrology methods for all components, including fixture design and fixture positions.
Identify, develop, and document inspection strategy for all visual inspection criteria for each molded component and subassembly.
Plan, oversee, and participate in Gage R&R or other measurement system qualification activities.
Analyze results of measurement system qualifications and prepare measurement system qualification reports.
Develop and implement inspection methods for purchased materials or components, including resins and springs.
Oversee (and perform as required) measurement of samples from molding process development, molding process qualification, automation process development, and automation qualification (NPI).
Maintain organization of qualification samples and schedule of qualification sample measurement.
Provide guidance to Quality and Operations departments on product specifications, product nonconformances, and metrology method performance.
Maintain organization of metrology fixtures, metrology programs and methods, and QC lab equipment.
Develop, maintain, and oversee execution of calibration system.
Develop, maintain, and oversee retain sample program.
Maintain awareness of current nonconformances and internal production issues to aid in investigation and corrective action plans.
Ensure QC group priorities are set appropriately to meet all required dates (NPI, in-process inspections).
Represent QC in plant cross-functional problem solving or CI activities.
Identifies QC team members ready for additional training, responsibility, or project assignments.
Any other duties as assigned.

A qualified Metrology Engineer candidate would fulfill these requirements:
Five to ten years' experience working in an ISO 13485 or FDA regulated manufacturing environment.
Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of GD&T, Gage R&R, and Metrology Equipment
Advanced understanding of metrology equipment programming and troubleshooting, basic statistics, and plastic component defect identification
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and demands.
Skilled technical writer with ability to communicate complex information efficiently and effectively.
