The Mechanical Engineer supports the design and development of new and existing pump products for fluidic systems. The Mechanical Engineer assumes responsibility for engineering projects and applies sound engineering judgment, leadership, and mechanical and hydraulic principles to develop solutions and products that customers recognize as superior in function and performance. Responsibilities include:
- Assume technical Project Management responsibility for engineering projects moderately complex in depth and breadth, and guide projects through the Product Introduction Process.
- Use CAD Tools to model components and assemblies and generate production drawings for Manufacturing and Assembly.
- Meet with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, to identify design and application challenges and potential solutions.
- Utilize knowledge of manufacturing processes like machining and injection molding to design new components and qualify their production.
- Create innovative fluid system solutions by developing new or modified existing parts, products, and technologies.
- Apply analytical modeling and prototyping skills to prove the feasibility of a solution.
- Perform hands-on work to solve problems and perform test protocols to validate that the design meets the specifications and the customer’s expectations.
- Works closely with all departments to ensure designs meet all specifications and requirements.
- Actively participates in the company’s commitment to Safety, Environment, and quality ISO standards and other corporate initiatives.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Engineering and Technology knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to the design and production of products and services.
- Design knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles to produce Engineering models, drawings, and Process Plans for components and assemblies.
- Production and Processing knowledge of Manufacturing processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective production of parts and products.
- The ability to effectively communicate information and technical ideas in speaking and writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Ability to influence action without direct authority in a way that shows respect for different opinions as well as encourages open communication and problem-solving.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Visual acuity needed for close detail work.
- Ability to travel within the US and internationally
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking
- Ability to transport up to 35 pounds, occasionally
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- MSME/BSME or equivalent required, plus three to five years of experience in the design of mechanical components and assemblies used in fluid systems.
- Experience with molded and machined plastics, machined and formed metals, and assembly techniques.
- Experience developing and implementing a new or significantly revised product design or technology.
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Creo
- Knowledge and application of ISO standards
- Regular and reliable attendance
- May include international travel up to 10%
- Must have authorization to work in the United States
