BlackSea Engineering is seeking to augment our talented staff with additional personnel to work individually and in groups to conceptualize, design, analyze, coordinate the fabrication of, and test equipment for shipboard use. Examples of this equipment can include shipboard handling equipment, winches, capture and release devices, motors, pumps, operator interfaces, and more. This equipment can also include sensors and microprocessors that are programmed by BlackSea controls engineers to perform specific tasks.
Work can also include:
Planning, coordinating, and integrating equipment on customer vessels Developing design data ranging from fabrication drawings through system descriptions / diagrams, technical reports, and customer presentations Coordinating with project sponsor representatives to meet program requirements and expectations
U.S. Citizenship B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline from an ABET-accredited school Three to 10 years' experience as a mechanical engineer with an emphasis on design engineering, maritime equipment, ship integration, test and evaluation, uncrewed systems, or related topics. 3D CAD modeling experience Good communications and organizational skills Applicants should be able to board and traverse boats and ships. Ability and willingness to receive and maintain a US Government security clearance
Experience as a mechanical engineer performing mechanical and/or machine design from concepts through production and testing Strong SolidWorks 3D CAD skills Demonstrated project management and/or team leadership experience on small to medium projects Mechanical aptitude and intuition with experience in the design, testing, and production of electromechanical or robotic systems Design engineering experience with a wide variety of components, structures, and systems Experience or willingness to work in a rapid prototyping and testing environment Interest in maritime activities, structures, and/or vehicles Experience coordinating and working with machine shops, welders, fabrication technicians, and other engineering staff, including electrical and controls engineers Small to medium project management experience An existing US Government security clearance Technical curiosity and the desire to conceptualize, design, build and test a wide range of evolving projects being implemented from the seafloor to aerospace systems.
