Harriman's growing multi-disciplinary practice is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in our Auburn or Portland, Maine office. With a holistic, ground-up approach to design, our Mechanical team works closely with architects and engineers throughout the firm as well as directly with prime engineering clients, on a diverse group of project types The role will focus on the design and project management of mechanical HVAC and building analysis for new and existing facilities. Harriman believes that the expectations of a project owner and an occupants’ comfort level are of the highest priority, and utilize the latest building modeling software for providing detailed load analysis, life cycle analysis, and energy modeling. Combining their team’s extensive experience with the use of this advanced software allows them to accurately analyze the predictive energy consumption of a building and all of its equipment. The Mechanical Engineering practice at Harriman works with both public and private clients with projects including municipal facilities, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, commercial and industrial development, and parks and recreational facilities. Requirements: Able to act independently regarding engineering methods and complexities, applying sound and practical knowledge of engineering principles in a broad array of assignments. Plans and conducts work including evaluation, selection, and design. Assesses problems when encountered and provides guidance to engineers, interns and other company personnel on project designs and solutions or unusual or complex issues or projects. May provide project oversight and management, supervision and guidance on overall objectives, critical issues, or new concepts. Organizes work to ensure all deadlines are met Design of HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional and healthcare facilities Perform HVAC building calculations, equipment selection, specification writing, etc. Field-discovery skills and MEP troubleshooting experience Assist or manage scope, schedule, budget, and delivery of projects Researches new applications Coordinate as a team with the other Harriman disciplines for building design Qualifications: Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline Knowledge of New England states building codes Professional Engineer license
