Description: PART A: Major Function Describe the overall purpose and end results of this position. Concept, design, detail, create BOM’s and release to the shop, reliable, cost-effective automation and test solutions that meet the as sold metrics for cycle rate, uptime, and quality while meeting the critical milestones and design budget. Prepare detailed designs of unusual, complex, original designs, for the assembly and test of customer components. Designs may be prepared from verbal or written instructions. Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and design expertise. Ensures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the design/drawings produced.
PART B: Specific Duties
45% Develop detailed designs and specifications for mechanical assembly and test equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using SolidWorks 5% Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems 5% Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed 5% Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems 5% Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment 5% Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems 5% Present proposed design at the internal and customer design reviews 5% Create a Bill of Materials for the design 5% Print and release drawings and BOM to shop for build 10% Assist in the assembly and debug of the design as needed 5% Update drawings from shop

Requirements:
Education /License/ Certification required for this position Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical / Electro Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Minimum 4 years' experience utilizing Solid Works and/or AutoCAD Designing various custom Automated Test and Assembly Machines in the Automotive, Consumer Product and Medical Device Industries using a wide variety of Automation Platforms & Knowledge required for this position: Knowledge of sound mechanical design principals, shop practices, and automation and test components. Skills include an intimate knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent solid modeling software, knowledge of design techniques, automation techniques and principals involved in creation of automation and test stations and machines. A Basic knowledge of how the machine will be controlled. Additional Skills a plus: toolmaking, electrical, automotive exc.
