System Engineer Onsite (Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL)
An organization is seeking a System Engineer to support the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. This is an onsite role in either Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL.
The C2BMC program integrates the Missile Defense System and is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. It allows commanders to collectively view the battle and dynamically manage networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve mission objectives. The program also plays a critical role in system ground and flight tests, verifying and exercising current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The selected candidate will join the Global Systems Engineering Team, working as a capability concept and system architecture engineer. They will collaborate with a multi-contractor team to develop and implement a comprehensive assessment program that supports the capability-based acquisition of the C2BMC Element of the BMDS. Work will be performed under the direction of technical leads and product owners and will require interfacing with multiple team members.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:Complete use case development and prepare systems engineering artifacts, including defining Epics and Features to be developed by program Cross-Functional Product Teams.
Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, and the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM).
Develop architectural documentation, estimate system engineering requirements, and author and perform formal/informal engineering reviews.
Follow DOORS processes and procedures while reviewing the content and details of technical products.
Act as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts, as necessary.
Work with multi-functional teams to facilitate data connectivity from architecture to requirements and testing.
Build engineering pipelines, create maintenance routines, and support troubleshooting tools.
Provide mission analysis and develop capability concepts, use cases, sequence diagrams, and system-level requirements.
Maintain system and component baselines within a requirements management system.
Define connections between internal and external components.
Develop capability assessments, assessment objectives, and related plans and procedures for assessment.
Current/active in-scope DoD issued SECRET security clearance.
8 years of related experience with a Bachelors Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics),
OR 6 years with a Masters degree,
OR 4 years with a PhD,
OR 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.Experience with DoD interface, assessment, and test methodologies and terminologies, and with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) elements or components.
Experience participating in requirements development and capability assessments of the C2BMC or equivalent BMDS elements.
Specific experience in:
Use case development
Requirements solicitation
Derivation and decomposition of requirements into lower-level subsystems and components
Structured and logical analysis approaches
Ability to lead efforts in developing objectives and requirements for capability assessments and experience writing assessment plans.
Experience developing use cases to support test case flow development.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with DOORS.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse teams.
Masters Degree in Systems Engineering.
INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification.
Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP MBF) Certification.
Experience or knowledge in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Experience with Agile methods and defining epics and features.
Experience in system architecture and network communications.
Skills in logical architecture modeling, interface definition, and knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security accreditation.
Experience with scripting and automated test development.
