Purpose of the Position:
IEM is currently seeking a Process Engineer, specializing in Metal Fabrication, for our Jacksonville, FL and will report into the Lead Process Engineer.
The Process Engineering - Metal Fabrication team serves to support the Metal Fabrication department’s pursuit to exceed IEM’s commitment to Quality, On-Time-Delivery, & Customer Support. The Process Engineer – Metal Fabrication team member will employ their resourcefulness and self-starter attitude to resolve manufacturing challenges in real-time, implement cutting-edge improvements, and achieve world-class performance in quality, safety, and throughput. As the design-execution focused member of the team, their ability to fluently translate engineering requirements and IEM’s manufacturing capabilities is critical to achieve alignment at every stage of manufacturing. This position demands deep expertise in problem solving, communication, and technical knowledge to drive effective change in-line with IEM’s growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily support to Metal Fabrication to identify, contain, and resolve situations that negatively impact IEM’s on-time delivery commitments.
- Serve as the liaison between Metal Fabrication and Engineering to resolve questions that arise in the Fabrication process.
- Design and oversee development of tooling, fixtures, and jigs to improve manufacturing processes.
- Develop work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials to support consistent operations and operator readiness.
- Assess component manufacturability from Engineering documents and provide recommendations for optimal fabrication methods.
- Regularly collaborate with Value Stream leaders to review KPIs, identify fabrication related issues, and implement efficient solutions.
- Promote consistency of execution across all IEM manufacturing locations.
- Support automation initiatives and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies to drive smart manufacturing and operational efficiency.
- Lead and participate in kaizen events, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Participate in capital equipment selection, installation, and validation.
- Develop and promote a culture of positive change.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field (Master’s or technical certifications a plus)
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, design, or process engineering role, focused on sheet metal fabrication processes, equipment and tooling, working in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
- Press brakes, fiber lasers, and punching equipment a plus!
- Proficient in SolidWorks design, CSWP preferred
- 2+ years of leadership experience as direct supervisor or project manager
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization
Workplace Conditions: Approximately 50% of time will be spent on the production floor and 50% at a desk.
