The Manufacturing Engineer supports design engineers in design-for-manufacturing, works with operational technical experts in designing tools, fixtures, programs and equipment to support a high quality, repetitive, economically competitive products. Accountable for the end manufacturing costs of the product and the ability of production to produce a good quality product the first time. Exceptional foresight, great communication skills, strong knowledge of different engineering and manufacturing disciplines and an aptitude for managing risk. Creating strong working relationships with vendors and production team members. In this role you will exhibit strong troubleshooting skills and must find solutions to reducing waste in the manufacturing process. In this role you have the opportunity to positively impact the future manufacturing environment while improving current practices. The Manufacturing Engineer is a self-starter, gathers and analyzes data, works proactively to resolve the root cause incorporating the team members responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Proactively working in a culture that answers ‘why’ and designs production processes that drives ownership in all routed steps of the manufacturing process
Managing the construction of tools, fixtures, and equipment on time and to budget
Working with production create work instructions and provide training as needed that allow the team member to product the product correctly the first time through
Ensure the manufacturing meets or is at a lower cost than quoted
Working with quality ensure the product meets all dimensional and functional requirements as designed
Stay current on industry and product trends to identify growth and improvement opportunities
Environmentally and socially astute, always considering opportunities to reduce carbon footprint
Proactively interfaces with other departments; quality, production, maintenance, purchasing and logistics
Performs other duties as required and/or requested
Travel to tool shops and manufacturing plants (based on programs) (approx. 10-20% travel required) REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 1 year experience in lean/continuous improvement role
Lean Manufacturing Certification a plus
Lean Six Sigma Certification a plus
PMP – Project Management Professional a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field a plus
Strong computer skills in MS Office products
Proactive and positive communication skills (verbal and written) that motivate and drive results
Organized and efficient
Problem Solver - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics
