Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified professionals to consider for the Manufacturing Engineer position at our Palatka, Florida facility. The Manufacturing Engineer will work in our Retail Angel Soft department on activities related to pulp and paper processing and will report to the Angel Soft Converting Product System Leader.
Our Team
Georgia Pacific's Palatka Mill is l ocated just south of Jacksonville and west of St. Augustine, FL, the Palatka mill employs about 950 people has six paper machines as well as several converting lines and produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand names of Angel Soft®, Quilted Northern®, Brawny®, and Sparkle®.
What You Will Do * Create and lead an environment where the team achieves zero incidents in Environmental, Health and Safety. Ensure excellence with the safety systems in the Angel Soft Converting. * Lead the implementation of complete asset strategies and operator basic care execution in the Angel Soft Converting Area * Lead the effort to identify, investigate, recommend, and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve productivity, yield, quality and/or reduce costs * Ability to challenge the status quo to facilitate continuous improvement * Ability to collaborate across roles and diverse groups, gather and share feedback * Effective communication, presentation, planning and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Strategic thinking skills * Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot * Lead daily operation to maximize overall operating efficiency of the paper machine.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Paper Science OR three (3) or more years of paper converting experience (operational, mechanical or reliability) * Proven track record of process improvement and operator capability building of tissue converting systems including rewinders, packaging, and palletizing. * Experience leading projects, coaching, and mentoring others within a manufacturing environment (i.e., demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and transfer knowledge to get results)
What Will Put You Ahead * Experience with tissue converting optimization/improvement * Experience with converting equipment mechanical troubleshooting techniques * Seven (7) or more years of operational experience in tissue converting * Experience with SAP or CMMS * Equipment and/or manufacturing systems reliability experience
