Position Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components. This role performs minor repairs, basic carpentry, painting, and furniture assembly, while also maintaining interior and exterior spaces. The position supports housekeeping and supervises contracted staff in the absence of the Maintenance Engineer Supervisor and must be able to work flexible hours and travel between facilities as needed.
Essential Functions: Inspects buildings to determine functional HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to detect malfunctions and needed repairs, making notes and recommendations to the President and CEO, and records maintenance under schedules and established check sheets.
Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g., wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliance, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses, changing air condition unit filters in each office, filters on the roof, removing any debris from heating and air units, etc.)
Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g,. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, roller to apply paint, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.), assembles and repairs office furniture to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power, and specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks.
Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using painting equipment and related tools.
Inspects, tests, and cleans fire equipment, alarms, switches, and sensors.
Cleans parking lots, cuts grass, sweeps outside sidewalks, removes leaves, and performs other outside job-related tasks as assigned.
In the absence of housekeeping staff, the position will clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other job-related tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
In the absence of the Maintenance Engineer Supervisor, responsible for supervising the contracted housekeeping staff.
In the absence of the Maintenance Engineer Supervisor, responsible for the daily cleaning of the QCare Clinic.
Must be able to work flexible hours as needed and drive to various facilities to deliver and or pick up mail, packages, equipment, and other related company items as directed.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
Minimum 3 years’ experience in facility maintenance, electrical, or mechanical work
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools preferred
Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting, and carpentry.
Knowledge of electrical and building codes as well as the Joint Commission is a plus.
Ability and willingness to travel to multiple organization sites as needed
Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
