We work on creating the map using a combination of automatic and manual techniques and build the infrastructure to store, process, and distribute the map. Our team collaborates with several other Waymo teams that consume map data.In This Role, You WillBuild backend infrastructure for storing and processing many forms of map dataApply the latest machine learning technology to generate maps from raw dataImprove our internal tools for viewing and editing mapsScale our systems to support mapping the whole worldYou HaveB.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience3-5 years Machine Learning experience (preferably in Mapping)Hands-on machine learning experience - ideally on image recognition problems.Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the systemA passion for good software engineeringIt's a Bonus If You HaveM.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experienceExperience with Tensorflow and/or C++Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache BeamThe expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
