We are seeking a skilled and innovative Battery Management System (BMS) Hardware Engineer to join our team. The BMS Engineer will play a critical role in contributing to and leading the team to design, develop, and optimize battery management systems to ensure the safety, efficiency, and longevity of advanced battery packs. This position requires a deep understanding of battery chemistry, embedded systems, and electrical engineering principles to deliver cutting-edge solutions for renewable energy storage. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with hands-on experience in Hardware focused BMS development and a passion for advancing energy storage technology.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Design and develop Battery Management Systems (BMS) for lithium-ion or next-generation battery technologies, including hardware and firmware components.
* Implement algorithms for state-of-charge (SOC), state-of-health (SOH), and state-of-function (SOF) estimation to optimize battery performance and lifespan.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, and software engineers) to integrate BMS into overall system architectures.
* Conduct simulations, modeling, and testing to validate BMS performance under various operating conditions (e.g., temperature, load, and fault scenarios).
* Develop safety mechanisms, including overcharge/over-discharge protection, thermal management, and fault detection.
* Analyze and interpret battery data to troubleshoot issues, improve system efficiency, and enhance reliability.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 26262, UL, IEC) for battery safety and performance.
* Support prototype builds, testing, and validation phases, including lab and field testing of BMS-equipped battery packs.
* Document designs, test results, and processes for internal reference and regulatory submissions.
* Stay updated on advancements in battery technology, BMS methodologies, and emerging industry trends to propose innovative solutions.
*Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
* 5+ years of experience in battery management system design, development, or testing.
* Proven expertise in embedded systems programming on DSPs used in BMS applications.
* Strong knowledge of battery chemistries (e.g., Li-ion, LiFePO4) and their electrical characteristics.
* Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, or UART.
* Familiarity with circuit design, PCB layout, and power electronics related to BMS hardware.
* Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice) for system modeling and analysis.
* Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, battery cyclers) for testing and debugging.
* Understanding of thermal management principles and safety standards for energy storage systems.
*Preferred Skills*
* Experience with automotive BMS applications and functional safety (ISO 26262) compliance.
* Knowledge of machine learning techniques for predictive battery analytics.
* Prior work with high-voltage systems (>400V) and associated safety protocols.
