Lead Software Engineer (Backend, C#,.NET Core, API)

We're looking for a Lead Backend Software Engineer with deep expertise in server-side development and a proven track record of leading technical teams. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems and APIs, while also mentoring team members and contributing to architectural decisions. The Lead Backend Software Engineer will work closely with Product, Data Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure rapid, predictable and stable software delivery. Responsibilities As a backend engineer, you will lead the design and development of scalable services and APIs using modern technologies, with a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and robust architecture. You'll play a key role in shaping backend infrastructure, making critical system design decisions, and optimizing database performance and data architecture. Working closely with fellow engineers, product managers, and designers, you'll help deliver high-impact features that drive the product forward. In addition to contributing to system architecture and infrastructure planning, you'll provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers. Qualifications
7+ years of professional software development experience 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership, senior, or lead engineer role 3+ years of experience with C# and .NET Core 3+ years of experience designing and building RESTful APIs 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases (preferably SQL Server) Experience with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) Knowledge of backend security best practices (authentication, authorization, OWASP) Solid understanding of unit testing AWS and deploying cloud-based applications Experience using Source Control (Git and GitFlow) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with message brokers (, RabbitMQ, AMQP) Knowledge of NoSQL databases (, MongoDB, DynamoDB) Experience with GraphQL API development Knowledge of event-driven architectures and CQRS patterns Experience performance profiling and optimization Familiarity with distributed systems concepts Experience with data streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis) Experience with database migration strategies Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline optimization for backend services Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes Exposure to microservices architecture and system design Experience with GitHub Actions pipelines Fully Remote:  This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
