Junior Network Engineer
Mantech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Junior Network Engineer to join our team in Doral, FL. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of computer networks, working under the guidance of Senior Engineers to support the network infrastructure.
- Assists in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoots basic network issues, analyzes logs, and implements corrective actions to ensure smooth network operation.
- Assists in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
- Assists in monitoring network security events, analyzing vulnerabilities, and implementing appropriate security patches and updates.
- Collaborates with other IT Teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the network infrastructure, assists Senior Engineers in the planning and execution of network-related projects, and receives guidance and direction from more senior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in field necessary to assume Network Engineer duties or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Fundamental understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, basic routing).
- Basic understanding of network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
- Familiarity with network operating systems (e.g., Cisco IOS).
- Basic understanding of network security principles and awareness of cybersecurity best practices.
- Obtain DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification within 6 months.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a relevant discipline.
- Experience supporting DoD programs and with cloud-based technologies.
- Basic understanding of DoD network environments, awareness of classified networks (SIPR, NIPR, JWICS), and basic knowledge of DISA STIGs.
- Experience with network simulation tools (e.g., Packet Tracer), virtual machines, and familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
- Possession of an ITIL Foundation certificate, CompTIA Network+, CCNA (or working towards it), or relevant coursework/training in networking.
- Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have a current/active Secret clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in stationary position for up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to deliver clear and effective communication verbally and via email, phone, and virtual communication platforms to interface with co-workers and customers.
- Must be able to occasionally move about inside an office environment to access file cabinets, office machinery, and communicate with co-workers.
