Job Summary:
- This role is responsible for leading the investigation and validation of quality requirements to ensure compliance with North American standards for cooking appliances, including but not limited to free-standing ranges, wall ovens, microwave ovens, and countertop cooking products.
- The position requires close collaboration with engineering, legal, manufacturing, and quality teams to conduct root cause and failure analyses, driving continuous improvement across product launches, aftermarket services, quality assurance, and customer feedback resolution.
- To ensure regulatory and quality requirements are effectively addressed and integrated across the organization, the role also involves active engagement with regulatory agencies and industry working groups. This includes staying informed on current and emerging standards, contributing to discussions and votes, and clearly communicating regulatory updates to internal teams to support timely and accurate implementation.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Lead quality investigations by analyzing product complaints, identifying root causes, and coordinating with factories, engineering, and legal teams to implement effective resolutions.
- Document and track product complaints and quality issues, ensuring accurate reporting, timely corrective actions, and support for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Actively contributes to the development and revision of industry standards in collaboration with state and national agencies, including AHAM, DOE, CPSC, UL, CSA, and others.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure committee positions align with product strategy, regulatory priorities, and business objectives.
- Champion Midea's commitment to product excellence by actively participating in technical discussions, shaping industry standards and policy decisions, and ensuring regulatory insights are effectively communicated across the organization to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compliant products to market.
- Conduct regular product safety reviews, including evaluation of product literature, packaging, and rating labels, to verify compliance with certification and market requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Preferred experience as a current or former member of AHAM, HVI, UL, or CSA working or review groups, with familiarity in appliance products, procedures, and standards.
- Strong background in detailed component and system design, particularly within cooking appliances.
- Experience with gas and electric home cooking appliances is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel: up to 25% domestic and up to 15% international.
