Overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to lead assembly and integration efforts for a next-generation electric aircraft program. This role will focus on developing manufacturing processes, authoring work instructions, and supporting early production builds. You’ll collaborate closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and high-quality assembly systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Planning & Documentation
Develop detailed manufacturing work instructions for structural, systems, or interiors assembly and integration. Create build plans including layout, tooling, equipment, part flow, and testing.
Production Support
Provide hands-on support for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), including root cause and corrective actions, redlining, and continuous process improvement.
Process & Tooling Development
Design and specify tools, jigs, and fixtures to improve production efficiency. Develop automation and process control plans to ensure manufacturing capability and quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with engineering, facilities, and quality teams to drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and lean production practices. Support supply chain development and vendor coordination.
Data-Driven Optimization
Perform technical analyses for workflow, capacity, manpower, and production system performance. Conduct PFMEA to reduce risk and improve reliability.
Innovation & Scalability
Contribute to standing up new production facilities, developing production systems from prototype to scale, and implementing lean, automated solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years of experience in structural or systems manufacturing (aerospace or automotive)
Proven background in aircraft assembly, harness fabrication, inspection, and testing
Experience authoring manufacturing work instructions
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, DFM principles, and capacity planning
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or EasyPlan
Knowledge of GD&T, SPC, and statistical quality tools
Familiarity with FAR 23, Part 21, and FAA Production Certificate environments
Experience with automation/robotics and new facility buildouts
Willingness to work alternative shifts when needed
